The up-and-coming mixed-use waterfront community, The Wharf, just completed the first phase hotel deals with Hilton Worldwide and Hyatt Hotels Corporation. The Wharf master developer Hoffman-Madison Waterfront announced that Hilton Worldwide and Hyatt Hotels Corporation will open a 413-key dual-branded hotel designed by SmithGroup JJR. The hotel will be composed of Canopy by Hilton, a 120,000-square-foot lifestyle brand hotel, which will have 175 keys, and Hyatt House, a 145,000-square-foot extended-stay hotel, which will have 238 keys. The development will include with a café/bar, 1,100-square-foot fitness center, and 2,500-square-feet of meeting room space. There will also be outdoor terraces and water features, an outdoor pool, and a rooftop bar. According to a recent press release, the entire development will span roughly 300,000-square-feet along with more than 30,000-square-feet of street-level retail and restaurant space, two levels of below-grade parking, and a 10,000-square-foot lounge area with waterfront views of the Potomac. The location is between Maine Avenue and Wharf Street. The development isn't expected to open until the fall of 2017.
