Plans for Boutique Hotel with Artist Studios Near Union Market

New, 1 comment

Northeast of Union Market, developers D.B. Lee Development and Construction and Brook Rose Development are planning on building an 11-story hotel with artist studios, classrooms, an art gallery, and a restaurant. District Source reported that the hotel will have 178 guest rooms, over 3,000-square-feet of art studios and classrooms, and a rooftop terrace with a bar and a pool. The restaurant will be located over the hotel lobby. Currently, the site at 411 New York Avenue NE, is occupied by Union Arts, a four-story communal arts space. The building on the site was built in 1933 and was previously used as a storage warehouse and retail facility. The existing facade will be incorporated into the new structure. According to Urban Turf, BBGM's designs for the new development were inspired by two New York City hotels, The Crosby Street Hotel and The Hudson. The developers have partnered with the non-profit, Cultural DC, for the project.
