Since 1998, the historic Buchanan School in Capitol Hill has not run as a fully functional educational institution, but soon it will see new light as a 70-unit residential development. The Board of Zoning Adjustment recently approved Insight Property Group's and Federal Capital Partners' plan to redevelop the 92,899-square-foot building into 34 row houses and 36 condos. According to Urban Turf, a majority of the residences will have three or four bedrooms. The developer will also construct a walkway, called "Buchanan Walk," that will connect the complex to nearby streets. Construction is expected to begin the first quarter of 2016. The development should be complete by 2017.
