In Silver Spring, there are plans to renovate the Alexander House apartment building and add two new high-rise residential buildings in the area. The East MoCo blog reported that the two new developments are titled Elizabeth House III and Elizabeth House IV. The former will feature senior housing, while the latter will feature multi-family housing. With 436 residential units added to the site, that will cause the development to total 900 units with 15 percent designated for affordable housing. Plans also include building 6,023-square-feet of retail and 63,896-square-feet of "community recreational center use," reported the East MoCo blog. The site will also feature a future extension of the Capital Crescent Trail, a Holy Cross Hospital-affiliated Wellness Center, and an educational kitchen. The location is two-and-a-half blocks away from the Silver Spring Metro at 2nd and Apple avenues. The developer will present their plans to the Montgomery County Planning Board on July 23.
