In Capitol Hill, Goodbye Auto Repair, Hello 45 Residential Units

This week, Jerry's Custom Automotive Center in Capitol Hill will close its doors to new customers and new work in preparation for Maryland-based developer OPaL LLC's upcoming project, Watkins Alley. Hill Now reported that the developer hopes to redevelop the auto repair shop and its warehouse to build 30 three-bedroom townhomes, eight flats, six lofts, and a carriage house. The prices will range from as low as $150,000 to as high as $1.2 million. The development will also feature one level of below-grade parking with 45 spaces and 48 bicycle spaces, according to District Source. The target audience for the development will be empty nesters and families. Expect the final action in July. The Zoning Commission gave the project initial approval earlier this month on June 4.
