Capitol Hill Hospital to Be Converted into 143 Apartments

New, 2 comments

With a delivery expected this summer, a historic Capitol Hill hospital building will be converted into 143 apartments. ElevationDC reported that there have been neighbors in the area that have expressed concern over construction debris and parking problems, but a partner with the developer of the project told the real estate blog that the neighborhood is supportive and "intrigued." The conversion will cover four floors above grade and two levels of underground parking, according to Washington Business Journal.

The building, located at 700 Constitution Avenue NE, dates back to 1904 when it was established as the Eastern Dispensary Casualty Hospital. Portions of the property date back to 1928 with additions that date back to 1956. The 1928 portion will be restored, and the 1956 additions will be altered with a rear addition and roof deck constructed. ElevationDC further reported that the development will feature a range of amenities that will include a yoga room, roof deck, and indoor dog wash.
