Union Market Residential Project Gets Preliminary Approval

After a major redesign, developer Edens went to the Zoning Commission on Monday to receive preliminary approval on a residential project at Union Market, called Shapiro Residences. According to Urban Turf, the plans for the project include building 415 to 510 units in the South building, 130 to 170 units in the North building, and 400 to 550 parking spots. 40,000-square-feet of retail has also been proposed. While approving the development, the Zoning Commission asked the developers to get the building formerly certified by LEED and be more specific about project's affordable housing. The development is located at 1270 4th Street NE.
