Only a block away from Union Station, Mayor Muriel Bowser, Councilmember Charles Allen, and executives from Fisher Brothers and Mack-Cali will host a ceremonial ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m. on April 27 for the recently opened residential development. Station House. This 400,000-square-foot apartment building is being slated as "'the' residence for the social and socially conscious urban Washingtonian," according to a press release. Appealing to those who are more eco-conscious, the development is pursuing a LEED Silver certification and includes five electric car charging stations. The amenities reach far and wide with a rooftop pool, cabanas and grilling stations, fitness center, spin and yoga studios, pet spa, and multimedia center. Designed by the New York-based firm Rockwell Group, Station House includes "social features," like community gardens, a harvest table, indoor terraria, and a "social fireplace." There are a total 378 apartments in Station House with units ranging from studios to one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. There is also underground parking with 309 spaces.
