Video: D.C.'s Biggest House Move Condensed into One Minute

655 New York Avenue from Douglas Development on Vimeo.

Over the course of four days, Douglas Development and Davis Construction made history by moving an 880-ton building 34 feet east onto a concrete slab. This move marked Washington, D.C.'s biggest home move ever, and this summer, the developer hopes to break this record once more by moving a 1,100-ton warehouse currently located at 632 L Street NW. These moves come with the plan to construct a $122.5 million mixed-use development expected to deliver by 2018. The development will feature 420,000-square-feet of office and retail space and a 200,000-square-foot garage. Above, check out a one-minute time-lapse video of the first move that was posted on Douglas Development's Vimeo.
