Cornerspotted: The Surratt House on H and 6th Streets

New, 1 comment

This week's Cornerspotter didn't throw our sole commenter for a loop. This 19th century building used to house Confederate conspirators, but now only houses delicious dumplings as a Wok and Roll restaurant on the corner of H and 6th streets NW. The building is sometimes referred to as the Surratt House due to its former Civil War-era dweller, Mary Surratt. After her husband's passing, she converted this rowhouse into a boarding house to gain income and to possibly house Confederates.
