The language used to describe plans for the H Street streetcar has become more and more uncertain over the last few months, but it's never been this bleak. In last Friday's episode of WAMU's Politics Hour, D.C. Councilwoman Mary Cheh didn't show much confidence for the streetcar, saying, "The entire streetcar program as was originally perhaps envisioned is possibly not going to happen." If plans for the streetcar continue as well as change for the better, they certainly won't become bigger as D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has stated that she does not plan to extend the streetcar's line beyond the 2.2 miles along H Street and Benning Road NE. For now, the DDOT is continuing to give the streetcar plan a top-to-bottom review to see if they can speed up the process to officially opening up the service to the public.
