Capitol Hill's Grungy Garage to Become Cool Condos

The New Union Garage on 643-645 Maryland Avenue NE will soon be redeveloped into three large condos. Built in 1906, the garage has a long history in Capitol Hill with the rumor that President Lyndon B. Johnson once had a car serviced there, according to Urban Turf. The developers plan to build single-level, three-bedroom homes marketed towards families and empty-nesters. Each unit will range from 2,100- to 2,600-square-feet with two parking spots per unit. The developers still need approval from the Board of Zoning Adjustment to move forward.
