Shrunk!

The Washington Monument is three-eighths of an inch shorter than it was 130 years ago. The National Geodetic Survey and the National Park Service said this was due to a number of reasons: a new set of measurements, measurements being taken from a different point of the monument, and the aluminum tip wearing down due to lightening.
