By next spring, expect the completion of a new public marina in Navy Yard that will run along the Anacostia River from Yards Park to the border of the Washington Navy Yard. JDLand reported that the marina will house approximately 50 slips, half of which will be for short-term use or fewer than 10 days. There will be limited dockage for boats up to 125 feet in length, but most of the slips will be for boats up to 60 feet in length. Each slip will have electrical outlets and water supply hookups. Construction is expected to start soon on the site, and some of the marina's components have already been fabricated off-site. Designed by Moffatt & Nichol, the marina will also feature a water taxi dock and a "paddler dock" for kayakers and other "human-powered watercraft." According to Hill Now, the developer also plans on including an education dock where local students can learn about the river.
