Plans for redeveloping the grungy RFK Stadium into the RFK Stadium-Armory Campus have made further progress with the selection of the architecture firm that will design the stadium. Events D.C. has hired OMA, the designer of Washington, D.C.'s first elevated park, for both short- and long-term redevelopment concepts. According to a press release, OMA's conceptual concepts for the 190-acre site will be available and made public in mid-January 2016. Washington Business Journal reported that Events D.C. will pay OMA $504,000 for their designs. Opened in 1961, RFK Stadium is known for being one of the first major stadiums designed for both football and baseball. It has hosted President John F. Kennedy and President George W. Bush.
