A vacant church at 1301 H Street NE will be razed to construct a four-story mixed-use building with 5,600-square-feet of ground-floor retail and nine condos. According to UrbanTurf, six of the units will have three bedrooms, while the other three would have only two bedrooms. In January 2014, Curbed reported that the property sold for $2.2 million with hopes to either lease the space for a restaurant or a mixed-use development. The owner of the property has requested a variance to provide only two parking spaces as opposed to the required 14. The site previously housed the St. John's Church of God and is within walking distance to the Atlas Performing Arts Center.
