In November, Washington saw appraisers and homeowners agree more than ever. Since then, the gap between opinions for both have narrowed even further. In the December monthly report of the Quicken Loans Home Price Perception Index (HPPI), it shows that appraisers value homes only 1.72 percent more than homeowners as opposed to 1.77 percent from last month. From last year, appraisers valued homes 2.66 percent more than homeowners. According to retail mortgage lender Quicken Loans, this is the sixth consecutive month that the opinion gap has narrowed.
