No, you're not seeing things. Street cars are coming to Washington, D.C., and already they're cruising the streets of North East. This Monday, street cars did a test run along H Street and Benning Road as part of a safety testing phase.
Street cars aren't new to Washington, D.C., though. The first street car operated in H Street in 1872. The servic stopped in 1949. For now, while having street cars in DC is being considered a milestone, there have been numerous delays in getting the project underway.
Transportation officials predict the project to be completed by November. Fares have still not been set.
