Insight Property Group has broken ground on the space on H St NE that will ultimately become 431 apartments and a 40,000-square-foot Whole Foods. H Street residents have known about the Whole Foods for a year; the developer has owned the space since 2011; so excitement is at pretty much frenzy levels at this point. Whole Foods will open in 2016. "Apollo," in the 600 block of H St NE, will have a concierge, gym, courtyards and a roof deck that includes not just a lawn and dog park but also an outdoor movie screen and a two-tiered pool. The lot was previously home to a Murry's grocery and H Street Self Storage. What a difference three years make.
