ANC6E voted to support this project, which will convert an existing single-family home at the corner of New Jersey Ave NW and Rhode Island Ave NW into seven apartments. The folks who will move in here once it's built will have lots of amenities, we presume, including proximity to Shaw and the U Street corridor—but one thing they won't have is parking, because Newton Street Development isn't providing any.
Like many new projects going up in dense parts of D.C., the developer is promising that tenants won't be able to apply for a parking permit without voiding their lease, and if the building is a condo (Newton Street hasn't decided yet) buyers will face the same restriction.
There's a lot of unknowns about the building—like pricing, availability date, and even whether the units will be for-sale or for-rent. What we do know is that it will entail seven units and a roof deck. The project goes before the Board of Zoning Adjustment tomorrow.
