Give an inch, they take a mile. Give two, and they take $2 million. In the search for a new headquarters for the Corporation for National and Community Service, the General Services Agency requires a ceiling height of no less than 8 feet, 2 inches. This excludes the majority of D.C. buildings affected by the Height Act, which have ceiling heights of 8 feet or less. Options in SE and SW that have lower rental rates are left out, which results in less competition, forcing the federal government to spend millions more in rent. [WBJ]
