So, this "Coming Soon" sign has appeared on H Street NE just in time for the start of streetcar operator training. Oh, for Pete's sake, the streetcar has been coming "soon" since the cars arrived in the city in December. In December they'd be running by April and in April they'd be running by August. Now that it's August, we've heard November. Sure, the streetcars are actually doing test runs this week and earlier they even stopped at every stop to measure the actual distance between the streetcars and the sidewalk. Still, every new step forward for the streetcar has been followed by things like budget cuts and structural issues and the polar vortex. So here's a poll wherein we judge when the streetcar will really arrive.
