He is already commemorated on murals across the city, but next Friday, the godfather of go-go will have a much larger memorial. The Chuck Brown Memorial Park ribbon cutting will occur at 11:00 a.m. on August 22 and Mayor Vince Gray will join Brown's family and the park's architects of Marshall Moya Design to do the honors. Notably, the park will contain a sculpture called "Wind Me Up Chuck" and drums but not the amphitheater that had originally been a part of the plans.
