Although traveling to the National Mall for the 4th of July fireworks can be an enormous pain in the tail, the truth of the matter is -- that display over the monuments is breathtaking. After all, if these are the fireworks that are going to be broadcast on national television, they had better create a memorable vision. It seems the area's Flickr photographers agree that this year's iteration was particularly impressive, since more stellar photos of this year's fireworks have hit the web than in years past. Many of these photos were taken from points in Virginia such as Crystal City, Fort Myer, Fort McNair and the Netherlands Carillion Bell Tower. And yes, there's one photo directly from the National Mall as well. Have a look.
