In case you missed the nonstop stream of news reports and excited tweets, Phase One of the Silver Line finally opened on Saturday. Considering that the construction and certification process has been plagued with delays and more delays, the opening of Metro's sixth line has been all that anyone can talk about. News outlets aren't the only talkative parties; Twitter has exploded with early evaluations, celebratory photos and other commentary. We've compiled a dozen standout tweets after the jump, but by all means, put your own Silver Line experience in the comments or tip us if you've seen anything particularly notable on your commute.
Hopefully it's just a matter of time before we get to celebrate the opening of the Purple Line like this: http://t.co/mxen0PLsTm

About a 50 minute commute on #SilverLine to Gallery Place. Not much faster than taking bus to Orange Line, but less stressful.
