Take a Look at Brookland's Shipping Container Apartments

New, 3 comments

They're new, they're different, and they're causing everyone in D.C. to collectively lose their minds. The new apartment buildings made from shipping containers started to go up on 7th Street on Monday, and at this point, it seems that all of the former crates have at least been placed, if not 100% assembled and decorated. To recap, Brookland Equity Group received the permits last week to demolish the majority of an old house and build these four metallic apartments in its stead. The project certainly stands out on the otherwise quaint Brookland block, but the gray and blue containers don't look too horribly tacky (read: at least none of these containers are bright orange). Take a look at the progress after the jump.
