The development plans for the McMillan Sand Filtration Site have been quite the lightning rod for controversy so it should come as no surprise that last night's hearing regarding those plans generated some particularly salty tweets. In addition to vocal neighborhood group Friends of McMillan and pro-development account Neighbors4McMillan sniping at each other outright, there were also several miffed reactions to both the architectural renderings and the general layout plans presented by developers at Vision McMillan Partners. The best of the glorious vitriol can be found after the jump.

Twenty minutes in and the commission is threatening to eject people.

I fear my wine will be finished before this hearing #mcmillanzoning

There is NO mitigation on North Capitol! 2 traffic lights for 6,000 new cars will NOT cut it! #carorienteddevelopment #mcmillanzoning

Now there's a question I didn't expect during this hearing: What can you do to prevent the silos from being used as lavatories.

#mcmillanzoning Mr. May sounds very disappointed that medical building is only "targeting" LEED silver and not gold or platinum.

Why isn't #mcmillanzoning going to be affordable housing?

Ah yes! Look upon it! All six acres of corporate lawn! Glorious! @OurNewPark @HStreetDC_ @LincolnParkDC #mcmillanzoning

Well this is new, @VisionMcMillan has just defined grass as "imperious" material. Fascinating! #mcmillanzoning
— Friends of McMillan (@McMillanPark) May 2, 2014
Worth noting: VMP's renderings for McMillan redevelopment kinda look like Naboo storyboards from Ep 1. And we all know how that turned out.

I shit you not, @VisionMcMillan's people actually tried to argue that concrete soaks up storm water better than grass. #mcmillanzoning

@ScottRobertsDC Thanks (not) for the #mcmillanzoning hashtag. Got to see tweets that I wouldn't have had to look at.
