Silver Line May Be Under Metro's Control By Next Week

The time for baited breath may have finally arrived as it looks like the Silver Line will be turned over to Metro on May 27. The race for an opening date between The Silver Line and the H Street Streetcar was beginning to look more like war of attrition because surely one eventually had to open first. Right? The Silver Line has at least shown unflagging optimism in the face of delays and more delays whereas the streetcar news has seemingly entered a period of radio silence. Now it looks like streetcar passenger service will begin in late summer at best, whereas Silver Line service will start within ninety days of Metro gaining control. But keep your head up, H Street Streetcar, we have every confidence that you'll open before the Silver Spring Transit Center.
