This Will Be The New Site Of The Textile Museum

In October, the Textile Museum shuttered their former location in Kalorama (which is still on the market) and started its move to a new home on the George Washington University Campus. The location of the museum proper is still under construction as it won't open until later this year, but the enormous conservation and collections resource center in Ashburn, VA is already complete. While it looks rather empty and pristine right now, over the next few months, various textiles and fabrics from the previous museum location will be thawing out after enduring a -33 degree (Celsius) freeze. Also, there will be separate space for drying, cleaning and dyeing different fabrics. Check out the gallery for a look at both the completed conservation center and construction shots of the space that will soon be the new oasis for fabric fiends.
