There are a couple reasons why D.C.'s Capital Bikeshare is doing so much better for itself than New York City's CitiBike, financially. CitiBike has had some unexpected weather-related hurdles in its first year, which may have lead to the decrease in non-membership users. However, there also seems to be a difference in the expectations that officials and residents had for how each bikeshare network fits into the city's system of transportation.
