Shifting Businesses At WaPo's Desired New Headquarters

The Washington Post may have signed a letter of intent for the massive building at 13th and K Street, but if they do ultimately move in, they won't be alone. At least one of the current tenants, Reed Smith renewed their lease and will be sticking around through 2027. However, the law firm, which previously occupied the 7th, 11th and 12th floors of One Franklin Square will now be on three adjoining floors, vacating the 7th and taking up residence on the 10th. Does that mean there will be room for the local journalism institution below? That has yet to be determined, but either way, Reed Smith plans to completely renovate their own portion of the building. A representative from the firm states that their build out (which should begin in late September) would include glass fronts for the office spaces, open collaboration zones and a central conferencing set up. Stay tuned to this space as more information arrives.
