The Skyland Town Center will finally break ground next Wednesday, fourteen years after the District gave the okay to completely renew it. Anchor tenant Wal-Mart has not actually signed their lease yet, but announcement of a groundbreaking date is promising. Over the summer, before Mayor Vince Gray vetoed the Large Retailer Accountability Act, Wal-Mart had threatened to pull out of that location which would have ultimately condemned the entire project.
