West End Office Building to Be Converted into 61 Condos

The 100,000-square-foot office building on 2501 M Street NW will be converted into a residential property with 60 condo units and 11,475-square-feet of ground-floor retail. The developer bought the building for $31.6 million and plans to completely redo the lower five floors by expanding them for each condo to have nearly 10-foot-high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows. Each condo will have a balcony. The upper three floors of the building are already condos. The ground floor retail will include a "top restaurant," according to the developer. The building originally housed the headquarters of the Association of American Medical Colleges.
