Various churches in Alexandria's West End haven't been feeling too much of the holy spirit lately, and it's time for them to come down and raise up something completely new. An Arlington-based nonprofit affordable housing developer is planning on building two six-story buildings, 92 affordable units in one building, 132 market-rate units in the other. The churches on the site are described as "dated," "isolated," and "underutilized." The new buildings will be located at 5000 and 5001 Echols Avenue.
