$65M Project One of a 'Frighteningly Long List' at Florida Rock

New, 3 comments

Groundbreaking began for the first residential project on the west bank of the Anacostia River. The $65 million apartment building is being referred to as The Riverfront and will include a total of 321 apartment units over nine stories. The project includes 18,650-square-feet of retail and 286 underground parking spaces. Highlights from the new project include amenities like a rooftop swimming pool and a "state-of-the-art health club." This project is only one of many projects that are currently underway at RiverFront on the Anacostia, otherwise known as Florida Rock. JDland lists the project as one of "a frighteningly long list of apartment projects" that are already under construction in the neighborhood.

Expected to be completed by fall of 2016, the current plans for Florida Rock include four buildings and over 1.1-million-square-feet that will include spaces for residential, office, hotel, and retail use. The construction will also expand the plaza by Diamond Teague Park, adding ground-floor retail and an extension to the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail. There is no timeline yet for the remainder of the development, but The Riverfront is expected to be complete by September 2016.
