Marion Barry's Developments

New, 2 comments

If it wasn't for former Mayor Marion Barry, many of D.C.'s most recognizable developments would not exist. CEO of the Western Development Corp. Herb Miller said, "If Marion hadn't been there, I wouldn't have done [them]." The projects include Gallery Place, Georgetown Park, Market Square, and Washington Harbour. With an emphasis on revitalizing the city, he engaged with developers like the Oliver Carr Co. to be able to construct projects from downtown to the West End. Rod Woodson, a partner in Holland & Knight's D.C. Practice, said, "Everybody in the business community has a story about doing business with Marion. Sometimes it was tough. Sometime it was not so hard." [WBJ]
