Bus Versus Streetcar

Now that plans are officially kaput for the Arlington streetcar, all eyes are on improving the bus service to compensate for the need for more public transit. Plans for a low-cost bus service are almost identical to plans for the streetcar system with it running five miles along Columbia Pike from Pentagon City to Bailey's Crossroads. Even so, the streetcar would have been able to carry more passengers with a four percent higher ridership expected by 2016. [CL; previously]
