Parking Pilot Program

A pilot program in 2015 will cause parking prices in the Penn Quarter and Chinatown neighborhoods to fluctuate based on the number or parking spaces available. The program will end in 2016 with the hope to implement the same supply-and-demand program to the entire District. During the 2015 pilot program, all 1,300 metered stree-parking spaces in Penn Quarter and Chinatown will accept credit cards. Spaces that are paid by one central meter will instead have a "pay-by-space" format, which means that drivers won't have to display a receipt on their windshield. An app will also be developed so that drivers can access real-time parking information to determine how many spaces are available. Pricing changes won't start until the summer of 2015. No price ranges have been released. [WCP]
