Retail Leakage

Retail sales are not thriving as much as they could in Arlington, and it looks like efforts are being made to change that. There is a demand that is greater than sales in Arlington, causing a leakage of retail opportunity. According to a report with data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, "The estimated demand for retail and food and beverage is in excess of $4.7 billion dollars." Now, with a proposed update to the 2001 Retail Action Plan to make "retail look like retail," there will be efforts to create a specific retail map, more public art, and better accessibility. [WTOP]
