Changes are being made to Phase II of the construction of Silver Line to Dulles Airport that could cause the $2.7 billion project to get even pricier. Executive Director of the rail project Charles Stark described the reasoning for these changes as a "timing issue" with finished paperwork and the 2009 Red Line Crash. After the crash, the Metro was required to implement safety upgrades system-wide, but officials didn't know these changes had to be included until recently. Tax dollars and toll dollars are currently funding the project. No reports yet on just how much extra this will cost. [WAMU]
