The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is installing their first permanent automatic bike and pedestrian counters on popular trails and bike lines. A bike-o-meter has already been installed in Arlington, recording accurate, real-time numbers of passing bicyclists. As bicycling rises as a viable option for commuters, DDOT will be able to clearly track trends across the metro area. [WABA] - Michelle Goldchain
