Displacement

With two days' notice, about 65 homeless families were moved from a Quality Inn to D.C. General, despite pleas to let them stay in their current housing. Ann Marie Staudenmaier, a staff attorney at the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, describes the move as "not well thought out at all." Naila Goodwin, a homeless mother who testified at a Council roundtable last week, said families who live at the Quality Inn will be "out on the streets." [DCist] - Michelle Goldchain
