National Harbor is about to get its own version of London's Millennium Wheel, the Capital Wheel. At its apex, riders will be able to see the city at a height of 175 feet. Ah, the advantages of building in Maryland where there's no Height Act in place. The Capital Wheel is set to open in May of this year, just in time for summer vacation, but since the forty-two eight-person gondolas will be closed and climate controlled, the Wheel will be able to stay open year-round and operate in anything short of a Snowpocalypse. Not only will the views from the Wheel be impressive, but the Wheel itself will be quite the spectacle. At night, the 1.6 million programmable LED lights will make a lot more of an impact. Stay tuned to this space as we find out more.
