Chevy Chase is not a neighborhood that played into most of D.C. Trulia searches last year. Its Walk Score® of 65 puts it in the bottom half of walkable neighborhoods in D.C. and it wasn't even nominated for this year's Curbed Cup. Yet, Redfin agents believe that Upper Chevy Chase is the fourth buzziest neighborhood in the entire country for 2014. How does that work? According to Redfin, it's a neighborhood that, based on data analysis and on the ground experience, has experienced a surge in popularity over the past four months. Indeed there's been a 430% increase in page views on Upper Chevy Chase homes on the website over this time last year. Redfin also points to the neighborhood's good schools, availability of single family homes (as opposed to Capitol Hill) and lower prices (compared to Georgetown). Not that those lower prices are terribly low: the median sale in the neighborhood is $873,000.
