So Much for the New York Avenue Wal-Mart

Regardless of whether Mayor Vince Gray vetoes or passes the living wage bill, the New York Avenue Wal-Mart will not be built. This is one of the three locations from which Wal-Mart threatened to pull out if Gray passes the bill mandating that big box retailers pay their employees a living wage of $12.50/hour. That said, it wasn't Wal-Mart that had pulled the plug on this location. The Wal-Mart was set to go over top of a Lowe's Hardware and when they decided to build a store closer to Costco, the spot was never filled.
