Vigil Removal

At 4:00 a.m. the U.S. Park Police dismantled a peace vigil at Lafayette Square that has stood across from the White House since 1981. The man who had been attending the unofficial landmark overnight walked away, giving the Park Police the opportunity to remove the white tent and homemade protest signs. Protestor and peace vigil long time caretaker Concepcion Piccioto plans to reassemble everything after retrieving the tent and signs from the Park Police today. [WaPo; Photo by Eric Haglund]
