Get Tickets for District Sample Sale; Back-To-School Shopping

K STREET — Tickets went on sale this week for the fall edition of the District Sample Sale, which will take place September 24th at the Sphinx Club downtown. Shop for designer clothing and shoes from over 25 high-end boutiques, with perks like cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a raffle, and a silent auction. Tickets start at $40 for general admission, while $100 VIP tickets include early access shopping and a goodie bag. All profits from the volunteer-run charity event will benefit N Street Village, a provider of services for homeless and low-income women in D.C. [RackedWire]

ALEXANDRIA — Time for the fourth annual Alexandria Sidewalk Sale, and this year, the sale is expanding to both Saturday and Sunday. Another change: nearby Del Ray boutiques will join shops in Old Town in discounting merchandise. Refinery29 DC has the discount details. [R29 DC]

METRO CENTER — Filene's Basement may be gone, but don't worry, other discount clothing stores are filling in the Filene's-shaped vacuum in D.C. The Washington Business Journal finds that a Marshall's is headed to the vacant Filene's Basement space in The National Press Club building. Now only the Connecticut Avenue Filene's space near Dupont Circle remains empty, with a T.J. Maxx moving from next door into the old Filene's space in Chevy Chase. [WBJ]

H STREET — Another new shoe shop alert, this time for H Street. According to H Street Great Street, Chuck Murphy is currently scouting locations for a full-service shoe store for adults and kids called "The Wandering Shoe." [H Street Great Street]
