Scaffolding has completely encompassed the Washington Monument for weeks now but there's been no sign of the obelisk's nightly illumination. That changes tonight: the National Park Service has announced that the monument will light up from now until the scaffolding's removal this winter. Will the Monument look more or less like it's wearing a giant metal fishnet stocking? We shall see. If you take some great photos of the illuminated monument, we may use them on the site if you add them to our Flickr pool. Photo by John Sonderman. [WBJ]
