Louvre-esque Pyramid at L'Enfant Plaza Says Au Revoir

There's a lot of odd architecture in the general area of L'Enfant Plaza. For one thing, the neighboring HUD building has these odd white circular structures that make passers-by question whether the mothership has landed and then of course, there's the Louvre-like pyramid at the center of L'Enfant Plaza. However, that pyramid is in the midst of getting destroyed as part of a new development plan for the retail/office/hotel space a few blocks from the National Mall. Judging from these renderings, the new focal point at the courtyard center will still prominently feature glass, albeit in a more Apple Store at 5th Avenue sort of way.
