Sometimes it seems like the D.C. Streetcar project is progressing at a fantastic pace and other times it feels like we'll finally see the streetcars sometime in between viewing a flying pig and a Smiths reunion. The Streetcars were initially scheduled to begin running the two mile stretch along H Street NE between Union Station and Benning Road at Oklahoma Avenue at the end of last year. The newest ETA for an active streetcar line is late this year. That estimation finally seems believable because first of the streetcars arrived today at the testing site in Anacostia and the second is currently en route. The exterior paint job looks almost identical to the Circulator's and the interior can hold roughly 150 people. Mayor Vince Gray and Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Cheh even tweeted some photos of themselves inside the car.
